FAQs
The Basics
MagicWebFX is a Windows based scripting program that automates selected pilot.fedex.com webpage functions. MagicWebFX is Shareware. After a 40-day trial period, the cost to use the software is $15 per calendar year. Details are under Subscriptions on the website or in the Help file: Appendix Section. How does it work?
MagicWebFX
uses the Internet Explorer web browser program to log on to and
automatically perform selected functions on the pilot.fedex.com
website.
The program runs automatically and opens and closes different windows
and manipulates the mouse/cursor just as you would. When MagicWebFX
is running, you should not run any other programs because they or your
mouse movements may interfere with MagicWebFX functions. This
is
especially true of MainFrame operations; the
‘Flashing’ is the program
copying and reading the screen before proceeding to the next
mainframe screen and processing step.
You can stop the program at anytime by pressing the ESACAPE key. So, if MagicWebFX gets "hung up" or starts doing something you didn't expect (like a FMS airplane), then simply hit the ESCAPE key to Stop/Quit MagicWebFX, then proceed manually or close any opened windows and restart the program.
Installation
Download,
then locate the file
MWFXxxx_setup.exe (self-extracting program installer) and double-click
to install MagicWebFX. Desktop and Quicklaunch icons and Start Menu
programs shortcuts are available for install.
Lite version
The program's Lite version is automatically invoked when
the trial period expires. Your personal information is still
saved
in an encrypted file, but the program will not use it. The
Lite
mode does not save your employee number or passwords, so they
must
be re-entered each time you start the program. The Lite mode only
allows you to download Open Time to “see and avoid”
disputed pairings and check your Mainframe email and "tracked" bulletin
boards like the Pilot Trip Swap or the Discount Corner boards. See the
Help file for details.

What
are the biggest advantages to using MagicWebFX ?
In addition to automatic website login, consider 1: Auto-execution of jumpseats and trip trades 2:
Auto-download
of open time trips w/“tagged” disputed
pairings 3:
Auto mainframe logon; download Paycheck and Bulletin Board items
(swaps, discount corner, etc) 4: Password
management 5:
Open time feeds to cell phone and/or email
Why
all the personal information ?
First: All user information is Encrypted and stored in a file
located on your computer.
Second: SSAN, DOB, and phone number are required for Jumpseat
reservations.
Third: Email account information required to send emails from
the Mobile Device Feeder.
Can
I install MagicWebFX on more than one computer ?
Yes, the registration
code is linked to your employee number not individual computers.
How
do I view/delete what MagicWebFX has saved ?
The
program creates a MagicWebFX directory in your User Documents folder.
You can view/delete files using normal windows programs or you can use
the Main Menu “File Viewer” button
or Main Toolbar
> View. Open Time has an separate “View
Trips”
checkbox. Delete saved files from the File Viewer menu by
clicking the “File Deleter” button. All files are
sent to
your computer’s recycle bin.
The program knows about the Control Code pop-ups and asks you to enter the code when they occur. Current Bot restrictions do not prevent you from using any of the program's functions. The Mobile Feeds option send messages notifying you when a control code has occurred.
What
is the Mobile Device Feeds Option ?
At pre-set intervals, the program sends open time trip summaries as SMS text
messages to a cell phone (new trips only), there is an send Email option [may
be easier than accessing website]. Max of 3 trips per text message
w/multiple messages until all are sent. Full setip details are in the Help
file. Additional setup help on the MFHelp
webpage.
Can
I run multiple instances of MagicWebFX ?
Yes. No reported problems with having one program running the
Mobile Device Feeds or a jumpseat/trade countdown timer while a
separate instance does other active tasks. Caution: To avoid
errors, only one program can be actively doing website tasks at a time.
If
I use the auto trip trade feature, will I be first ?
NO guarantees since trip trading is a game of chance.
Busy/slow
server response times at peak times mean some delays for all. Trades
are submitted sequentially. Advantages: timely first trade submit;
auto-cycle on server busy; ability to download/see New trips.
Where
is the Pilot Contract as a Help file ?
From Main Toolbar, select “View”, then
“View Pilot Contract”. Can install as
desktop icon.
Why
are the Microsoft Internet Explorer windows automatically maximized ?
The IE window is required to be the on-top, active window to run
without errors (especially for MainFrame tasks). Open Time
has a
run minimized option. IE windows can be restored to their
previous/normal sizes by using the Exit Program button.
Do I really need to do the Time
Synchronization ?
No, but accurate auto-timer operations rely on knowing the time
difference between your computer and the FedEx mainframe. The program
adjusts to execute at the proper time.
Can I backup or transfer data between
my laptop and desktop ?
Main Toolbar, select “File”, then “Data
Backup &
Restore”. You can backup/restore to any visible
drive. Files included: User Data, Reminders,
Disputed Pairs
and all Captured files.
Why should I care about the Mainframe
?
You can access several different types of useful information: Download
paycheck details before payday; monitor discount bulletin boards (GM,
Ford, cell phones, restaurants); PRISM for personnel items; and the Air
Ops Menu is an info treasure chest. See Help file.
What is the Lite version of
MagicWebFX ?
Lite version is invoked after the trial period expires (40
days).
Employee number and password must always be entered. Only Logon, Open
Time and Mainframe Bulletin Board downloads are allowed. Program
updates allowed. Register to restore full function.
What about the small annual subscription fee ?
Since it is a script program, MagicWebFX requires updates when
Microsoft changes Internet Explorer or the company changes the
mechanics of the website. The creation of MagicWebFX and its
maintenance represents a major time and monetary investment.
